Optical Brightening Agent Classification

2018-09-10

Here we can use the classification of fluorescent whitening agents as a general guide, we can know if we have chosen the type of Fluorescent Whitening Agent that suits our application.

1.Responsiveness

If bleeding, the OBA should be compatible with plastic. OBA for thermoplastics requires higher heat resistance and lower volatility than textiles.
2.Light Resistance
Fluorescent fluorescent whitening agents have limited lightfastness, much lower than pigments and most plastics. In any event, photochemical degradation of the Optical Brightener should not cause the plastic to turn yellow.
3.Hue
In most cases, people prefer medium blue instead of blue-green instead of red.
4. Processing conditions
In order to maximize the whitening effect, it should be fully decomposed or evenly distributed to the product.
5. Other components
Other components of the system, such as pigments, UV absorbers, and titanium dioxide pigments (TiO2), absorb light in the same UV wavelength range as fluorescent whitening agents, thereby reducing the whitening effect of resveratrol. The anatase titanium dioxide pigment absorbs approximately 40% of the 380 nm incident radiation, while the rutile titanium dioxide pigment absorbs approximately 90% of the incident radiation. UV absorbers absorb light while reducing whitening.
